7 Days Ecuador Rainforest Kayak Expedition

Ecuador is one of the very few spots in the world where you can run so many rivers in such few days! So if you are crazy about kayaking this will be paradise!

During this expedition, we provide opportunities for guests to learn new things about the region and meet new people from the town. No matter your previous experience, you will learn a lot from this trip by seeing and experiencing new rivers, amazing landscapes, biodiversity, food, and culture, and become part of our tight-knit kayaking community here in Ecuador

Not only is it amazing for experienced kayakers to come and paddle in Ecuador’s best and most beautiful rivers, but we keep things outside of the water exciting too. We work with the best local services and specialized staff that lives in the area, so we include the coolest places in town to eat and hang out which guaranteed to enhance the best experience.

Our trips are specialized to the needs of the group and the rivers are determined by group ability. If groups want to focus on progressing, we can work on technique, but if they just want to run different rivers, we provide that as well. We are always flexible with the goals and desires of the group. We also provide photo and video footage of different runs through the rivers so clients can take this home as a memory.

ITINERARY

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO TENA AND INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Transfer to Tena. Kayak selection & Briefing. Optional Run during the Afternoon + Welcome Dinner

DAY 2: Descent of Jatun Yacu & Napo River

Big Volume Grade 3. One of the largest volume rivers in Ecuador but don’t be alarmed by the size. The rapids are spaced out and most have very clear channels. On the river we have great views of the rainforest, the Andes, and riverside villages. This river is a tributary of the Amazon.

DAY 3: Descent of Misahuallí River

Clear, warm water, polished granite boulders, tree lined banks, and kids swimming near indigenous villages characterize the Misahualli’s upper runs.

DAY 4: Descent of Jondachi & Hollín River

The Jondachi River is one of the most beautiful rivers in the world because of its clear water, surrounding canyons, and smooth granite rocks.

The Hollín River has a lot of character with great rapids, big water, and lots of adrenaline while also providing recovery pools.

DAY 5: Descent of Piatúa River

You can’t miss this river that offers perfect buffs through virgin jungles. This river is a gem of the Andes, one of the most beautiful rivers around and has only been run in the last few years.

DAY 6: Descent of Cosanga River

The river drops into a canyon here and the gradient picks up. Class IV at low and medium water, the Lower Cosanga turns into a continuous, big water torrent (Class IV+/V) at high water. The Lower Cosanga will spit you into the Quijos river part way through the Baeza to Borja run.

DAY 7: Descent of Quijos River & Transfer to Quito

This wonderful river has some alternatives:

Lower Section: 20 km, 4 h., Grade III-IV
Baeza – Borja Section: 10 km, 3 h., Grade III-IV
