2 Days Chocó Rainforest

This non-previous experience kayaking tour is ideal for those who love nature and want to experience something different! This tour takes you to an amazing hidden area at the Norwest of Quito to kayak in crystal water rivers surrounded by exuberant rain forest at the boundaries of Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve in the Chocó region.

The Chocó is a neo-tropical biogeographic region located from eastern Panama, passing through the Pacific coast of Colombia and Ecuador.

This unique region has a large number of plains, narrow valleys, mountain slopes at the foot of the Tropical Andes, which creates privileged conditions for the development of a high-diversity and exceptional area on the planet!

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Mojarrero River

Early in the morning, we will drive for 3.5 hours from Quito to the Coast along a beautiful road that connects the highlands with the lower lands. During the trip, we will see how the climate and ecosystems change in a matter of minutes! Passing from the moors to the cloud forest and finally get to Golondrinas at 590 ft / 180 m in the rain forest.

Once we get to Golondrinas, we will check in a beautiful and cozy ranch guesthouse, we will have a traditional local snack and get ready for kayaking about 5 mi / 8 km in Mojarrero river! After paddling for a couple of hours, we will return to our ranch to have a well deserve lunch and rest.

DAY 2: Jordan and Canandé Rivers

After a delicious breakfast with local ingredients, we will get ready for another river adventure. This time we will paddle the beautiful Jordan and Canandé rivers 7.5 mi / 12 km for about 3 hours!

Since these flatwater rivers does not have any mayor waves or rapids and have clear and open passages between rocks and ledges, they are perfect for non-experienced people who want to try paddling down a river!

After kayak, we return to the ranch to have lunch and get ready for the trip back to Quito!
